Work Experience Program

Wildflyer Coffee Work Experience Program is an employment training program that hires youth experiencing homelessness between the ages of 16 and 24. As an employee, youth will work for 4 months and partake in an independent living skills curriculum to help them identify their interests and equip them to work towards a future of their choosing. Employees need to be able to provide their own transportation to work.

The Work Experience Program hires four cohorts per year—Winter, Spring, Summer, & Fall. We have two locations, Wildflyer Coffee (in Minneapolis) and Wildflyer Coffee East (in Saint Paul).

Our application opens up two months before hiring begins. After your application is received, one of our Youth Shop Managers will contact you to set up an interview.

How to Prepare

  • Work with your Case Manager to obtain your vital documents—you will need these!

  • Check out our program that describes how our program is structured and what you can expect.

  • Think about what kind of schedule you want. We are open from 7am–5pm, 7 days per week. The program requirement is 20hrs per week—this includes working at the cafe, workshops/classes, and meetings with your employment counselor.
