what does it mean to
BELONG?
At Wildflyer, belonging isn't something young people have to earn; it's something we intentionally create. We build coffee shops, programs, and partnerships with them in mind.
Since our humble start as a coffee cart in 2017, your support has helped make this possible.
For years, we've witnessed a consistent thread among youth in our Work & Life Skills Program: a profound sense of belonging. For many of the youth we employ, the Wildflyer community of staff and customers offers the first-ever experience of feeling as though there's a place just for them.
"Before Wildflyer, I wasn't really
communicating with anybody.
But being here made me
realize there was help if I asked for it."
Mirah, one of Wildflyer's recent graduates, shared about what she learned at Wildflyer. Bus cards, food, a listening ear–whatever she needed, she found she could ask, and someone would show up.
Your generosity ensures that Wildflyer can continue to show up for youth like Mirah.
For almost 9 years, Wildflyer has worked hard to become a place youth experiencing homelessness can depend on for stable, dignified employment and more. This summer, after years of dreaming, we launched our alumni program, created in direct response to our graduates' desires to stay connected to the one place they knew they belonged–Wildflyer.
Mirah was one of the first to join. For an additional three months after graduation, she continued to receive individualized support and monthly group workshops on topics such as conflict management, goal setting, and navigating employment transitions. This continued engagement supported Mirah as she stepped into her new job as a parking attendant and began pursuing a future career in phlebotomy.
When I asked what would happen if there wasn't an Alumni Program, her answer was quick: "I wouldn't have the opportunities I have now."
We want to ensure many more young people can say the same thing.
As we expand our programming over the coming year, we need your partnership more than ever. Like many nonprofits, Wildflyer experienced significant reductions in government contracts in 2025, forcing us to decrease the number of youth we could hire. Your year-end gift will provide the financial stability needed to employ and support 30 youth like Mirah in the coming year.
Will you join us in raising $40,000 this season?
